Kotor 2 Difficulty Mod

Feb 08, 2015  The /r/kotor Mod Builds - Guaranteed compatible mod compilations. And one, while available to be set when modding, isn't active on any of the default difficulty settings. For completeness, I'll list them anyway. I have actually had the MinHP1 setting turn on on my Xbox KoTOR 2 game and I didn't know how. I didn't mod it. I just thought.

Good intentions are no substitute for a good education.

The mods you may find interesting are the Hardcore Mod by beancounter, Game Balance Mod by Achilles and Putting the Sith Back in the Sith Lords by Prime. Can you mod oblivion on steam 1. From what I gather they make enemies stronger and I think the Game Balance mod looks better. They probably aren't compatible with each other though, so excercise some caution. Finished KotoR recently on Impossible difficulty (unlocked with the Restoration Mod). Still, it is way too easy for my STR Soldier-Guardian; the.

(2) The Droid Factory has to be undertaken by HK-47 on his own. He has no companions, and no access to the inventory that you have given other companions. It is an unavoidable part of the game: once you get to a certain point in the game, if you met the prerequisites for the Droid Factory, you HAVE to play through it, and you HAVE to finish it before you can continue with the main game. That means that if HK-47 is not up to the task, then you are stuck, unless you cheat your way through. Considering that the Droid Factory contains the hardest fight in all of the game, it might very well be that a player who does not want cheat, hits a wall here.
So your choices are to either make sure that you avoid the Droid Factory, or to make sure that you develop HK-47 in particular as a robot-killing machine.
How to avoid the Droid Factory? The two main ways are the following:
(1) Do not reactivate HK-47 at all.
(2) Do not use HK-47, at least not in fights against HK-50s.
Assuming that you want to reactivate HK-47 (and who wouldn't), let me clarify the second point. To enable the Droid Factory in the game, HK-47 has to gather information on HK-50's. He does that when he is involved in a fight with HK-50's. At several points in the game (at least twice on each of the main planets) you meet three HK-50's. HK-47 cannot fight his brothers, and they cannot fight him, but he can gather information on them. If you take him into three of those fights, he has gathered sufficient information to capture one of the HK-50's and interrogate him. You will know that that is the case when at some point you enter the Ebon Hawk and you encounter a cutscene in which HK-47 is 'torturing' an HK-50. After that, it is certain that you will get the Droid Factory content. So, to avoid the Droid Factory, you can simply decide not to take HK-47 in your party.
But suppose that you want to see the Droid Factory, then how should you make sure that HK-47 can complete the quest? In that case, you have to know that the Droid Factory is populated ONLY with robots, most of which are HK-50's. HK-50's are particularly nasty because they not only have enormous amounts of health and armor, but they also, contrary to most enemies in the game, heal themselves during fights. That means that you not only have to do lots of damage against them while surviving yourself, but you also have to do MORE damage than they can heal, which isn't easy. So you have to turn HK-47 into an HK-50-killing machine. The best way (or at least, a good way) to do that is as follows:
While HK-47 seems to be tweaked to be a rifle-user when you find him, he is more effective with two blasters. To avoid needing to spend Feat points on blasters, make sure you give him a Battle Upgrade as soon as you get it. The Battle Upgrade is found in several places in the game, so that is no problem. Not only does the Battle Upgrade give HK-47 maximum feats in both blasters and rifles, but it also improves several other stats enormously. It is the best upgrade for any robot companion. So there is no reason to spend Feat points on blasters or rifles (which, if you did not know this, you probably would have done).
Instead, invest your Feat points first and foremost into Two-Weapon Fighting and Precise Shot. Two-Weapon Fighting needs three Feat Points to get it to master level, while Precise Shot needs five. If you get more, you can spend them on anything you like. You might continue developing his Power Shot ability, but Rapid Fire is probably better.
For your skills, invest heavily in Repair, as you need it to 'heal' yourself. It is also good to put some points into Demolitions, and perhaps some Security and Awareness. Security for a few containers in the Droid factory (but you don't need much), and Awareness to be able to spot mines, which you then disable with Demolitions. Demolitions can also be used to place mines, in case you want to make HK-50's run over them -- for a poorly developed HK-47 that is a way to get at least through the first part of the Droid Factory, but it will not help in the second part.
Since you want to turn HK-47 into the ultimate Blaster wielder, put all attribute points that you get into Dexterity.
For your equipment, give him the best you find. The Battle Upgrade I already mentioned. For the armor, the best is Capacitator Armor -- I found only one of them in the game, and it might be a random drop, and if so, you may be out of luck. Then give him the best armor that reduces Energy damage, which is what all the bots deal. For the rest, use a Unity Grid (with more Unity Grids in reserves) and two Agility Upgrades. Instead of one of the Agility Upgrades, you can install a Source Ripper, if you find one (I found one in the Droid Factory, and it may be a guaranteed drop there).
The most important equipment, however, are the blasters that HK-47 wields. The best are Mandelorian Disintegrators; they are fully upgradable, and in particular their Unstoppable damage is very useful. You might not be able to find two of them before you get to the Droid Factory, however, as they are a random drop which need a very high level to come up.
If you do not find Mandelorian Disintegrators, give him other blasters that are fully upgradable and that work well against robots. Perhaps Mandelorian Rippers. Then give each of these weapons a Pinpoint Scope IV, a Mandelorian Chamber III, and a Pure Rylith Power Cell. Alternatively, for the Rylith Power Cell you might use the power cells that do Ion damage, but I prefer the Ryliths as they are more generally useful.
Note that you have quite some time to construct HK-47 in this way. The Droid Factory occurs right before the endgame, so after you have found all four of the Jedi that you were looking for, you confronted the three of them that are still living, and you returned to Dantooine to use the second entrance to the Jedi Enclave (which is inaccessible on your first exploration of Dantooine).
And that's it. On Normal level, with HK-47 outfitted like this, you waltz through the Droid Factory. Even the big ambush that you have to live through poses no problems at all. I never even had to repair HK-47 during a fight. So it will probably work on higher difficulty levels too.
